Get That Bottle in Shape
Posted: 04:47 PM ET, August 29, 2007
Does it bother you when New World Chardonnay or Riesling comes in a Bordeaux bottle? It does me, and I wonder why. After all, I am out there in front decrying corks and urging winemakers to use screw caps, which offends the sensibilities of some I call snobs. Read more
Masters Reinvented at Pebble Beach
Posted: 08:39 PM ET, August 22, 2007
Robert Weakly watched as the Masters of Food and Wine ended a 21-year run at the Highlands Inn last February and immediately went to work on something to replace it.
He quit his job as food and beverage director of the Highlands Inn, now a Hyatt Vacation Club in Carmel Highlands, Calif. Read more
Colonial-izing Barossa
Posted: 04:29 PM ET, August 17, 2007
On the basis of the early vintages, I have been underwhelmed by Colonial Estate, the Barossa Valley winery that came on the scene a couple of years ago with big prices. Tomato, Mozzarella and ... Watermelon?
Posted: 03:23 PM ET, August 06, 2007
Several restaurants here in Aspen are mixing heirloom tomatoes with watermelon in salads and soups. Maybe tomatoes and watermelons are finding their way onto plates together all over the U.S. and I just haven't heard about it up here in my remote mountain village. Read more
Remy the Wino?

Give me a break. A French wine called Ratatouille was supposed to go on sale at Costco stores nationally on Aug. 1. Instead, Costco and Disney, whose Pixar studios made the film "Ratatouille," pulled the plug on the wine. All 500 cases of it, which was to be priced at $13. Read more
