Corinne Mentzelopoulos - 1995
The Mentzelopoulos family saved Château Margaux. In 1976, Greek business tycoon André Mentzelopoulos bought the famous Bordeaux first-growth estate, then in profound decline. Corinne, André’s daughter, took over at age 27, following her father’s death in 1980, and much of the credit for Margaux’s revival goes to her. Today, at age 52, she moves easily between the realms of winemaking and business and has made crucial managerial hires, particularly that of technical director Paul Pontallier. In 2003, Mentzelopoulos engineered a brilliant financial coup to gain complete control of Margaux. Photographed in 1995.
